The enormity of landscapes can be difficult to communicate in photographs. I tried to convey the immense size scale of the North Saskatchewan River Valley in this photo by maximizing image sharpness so the size of trees in the foreground could contrast with trees on both sides of the mountains above the valley. The huge size scale in this scene also is conveyed by the Icefields Parkway winding through the valley below. A dark yellow filter was used to reduce the atmospheric haze and make the mountains "feel more solid" in this black and white photograph.
